Bob: Osama bin Laden is Now Dead

May 9, 2011

By Collin Sloan

Nearly ten years after 9/11, Osama bin Laden is finally dead!  So then, how is it that Bob Moriarty published an article on November 13, 2008 titled Osama bin Laden is Dead?  I was hoping Bob would answer that question, but a week has passed and the 321blog has remained silent.  So now, it is my turn.

As I see it, Bob is an arrogant self-proclaimed prognosticator who somehow has more knowledge of Al Qaeda than the U.S. intelligence community.  Apparently, his “expertise” in commodities has crossed over into the field of politics and boy has he proven himself this time.

So how does Bob pack so much intellectual firepower?  Well, we could ask the guru himself, but I think I have a pretty good idea.  Bob’s genius derives from a few important ingredients: the haggard ponytail, the raspy voice, the house in the Caymans, and most importantly his constant helpings of verbal diarrhea.

The beginning of his article from 2008 says it all, “I’d like to see [Obama] announce the death of Osama bin Laden as one of his first official duties.  Bin Laden often known as bin Forgotten died in December of 2001.  There is nothing I am saying that is news to anyone who has actually spent any time thinking.”  In light of last week’s momentous news, President Obama must be real glad that he did not spend any time thinking back in 2008.

My intuition is that Maharishi Moriarty wishes he had kept his mouth shut this time.  Normally when Bob is wrong, he offers us an update with some hook and ladder explanation as to how he was right.  As an illustration, on March 25, Bob published Is Silver Topping?, where he claimed silver was a couple bucks away from reaching a high at $38.  He ended up a paltry 24% off from the actual peak of $50.  A month later, he ran an article entitled Facts on Silver, downplaying his faulty prediction, claiming, “Lots of people get lots of things wrong about silver.”

This time, however, Bob has dug a hole too deep to get out of.   There is no recovering from this one.  Or is there?

Despite being 100% wrong, Bob still insists he is right.  Since the death of Bin Laden, Bob has managed to discredit his blog further by linking to four articles in The Forever War section of 321.  They are a mix of Palestinian and Pakistani propaganda sites that claim the death of Bin Laden is a farce.  This is despite Al Qaeda and Bin Laden’s own family acknowledging his death.   It is good to see where Moriarty gets his facts…

On May 3, Bob linked an article from Kawther Salam, (a Palestinian News outlet), claiming that Osama has been dead since December 16, 2001.  Two days later, he posted a video from Alex Jones’ Infowars that features Pakistani intelligence chief Hamid Gul say that Bin Laden was killed in 2007.  The following day, Bob linked a Revolutionary Politics video where former PM Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan backs up this claim.  So, what is going on here?  Well, to paraphrase Bob, anyone who has spent any time thinking must see he is grasping for straws.

Quoting again from his 2008 article, “The United States does not need a boogieman living in a cave in Asia.  Osama bin Laden is dead.  Barack Obama should be honest enough with the American people to declare him dead.”  Thankfully for President Obama, Mr. Moriarty is not his chief of staff.

In his reportage on Osama’s death in 2001, Moriarty writes, “The actions of the US Military are the most telling.  There isn’t a single soldier, sailor or Marine tasked with chasing down Osama bin Laden, dead or alive.  Because we know exactly where he is.  He’s dead.”  Evidently, Bob holds a secret security clearance with access to high-level Pentagon briefings and covert Navy Seal operations.  Unbelievable.

Most telling of Bob’s arrogance is his final prophecy, “Iran does not have a nuclear weapons program.  But you knew that, didn’t you? Iran is neither the enemy of the United States or Israel.”  This is some rich stuff.  Iran’s official position is to deny that the Holocaust ever happened and President Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel, but enemies that does not make.

What was once considered to be a respectable website about commodities has turned out to be nothing more than birdcage liner.
